Microtia

To create an awareness of the medical condition:

Being able to hear from one side is different from hearing on both sides. Since majority of affected population are from the right side, which is linked to the left brain, logic and language are affected.

To my experience, it would be easier to write or type than to speak it out.

Please see this article : Deaf in One Ear: The School Child

http://www.chw.edu.au/parents/factsheets/deaf_in_one_ear_-_the_school_child.htm

In addition, this condition does not only affect the feature of the ear and it's hearing. There is an impairment at the affected side. What will happen is that there will be a difference in skull growth at the affected side and the normal side. This in turn will affect the jaw growth. The jaw will most probably be at an underbite position. The further implication of this is that normal growth of teeth will be affected. When teeth are not aligned properly, this can cause more damage in terms or clenching/grinding of teeth(Bruxism) and poor teeth health throughout the living years. And may lead to speech problems.

The solution to the root of the problem is to realign the jaw at early age. This will ensure that when the second set of teeth appears, the foundation(jaw) will be at the optimum position.

What prove do you have?
Well, I'm a living proof. I did not go through any treatments whatsoever that the future effects to what I see can be devastating. Currently, I think it's just the tip of the iceberg.

Well as Charles Darwin said : The survival of the fittest!!!
